151 houses on encroached land in Coimbatore demolished

Coimbatore : As many as 151 houses, constructed on encroached land of the city corporation in Kuniamuthur area were demolished today.
The affected had already been allotted houses under Slum Clearance Board scheme but were not moving to the new premises.
Based on orders from district authorities, the houses were demolished this afternoon at Sunnambu Kaluvai, Kuniyamuthur and Quaid E Millath Street coming under ward 87 in south zone, official sources said.
