5 lakh worth pirated CDs seized in Pollachi, 2 arrested

Officials from the Coimbatore and Salem Unit of the Video Piracy Cell and District Police seized 3250 CDs from a house in Pollachi here today.
According to police, officials checked a house in Krishna Garden in Pollachi following a tip off and seized Rs. 5 lakh worth CDs of new movies including Iru Mugan, Joker, Aandavan Kattalai, Thodari, Kabadi and Kallattam. While 2500 were movie CDs, 750 were empty ones. They also seized 16,000 CD covers of movies including Rekka, Remo and Devi that were released today.
Cases have been registered against three persons for illegal possession of CDs. Police arrested two persons and are on the lookout for another one.
Meanwhile, police also seized Rs. 1 lakh worth contaminated tea leaves from a few shops in Erode and have arrested four persons.
