500 liquor bottles seized, 2 held

Thanjavur: Police seized around 500 bottles of liquor, all smuggled from Puducherry, from a house in Thanjavur today. The value of the liquor is estimated around Rs. 1.50 lakhs.
Following a tip off, policemen attached to the Thanjavur East station raided the house in Kollupettai Street in Keezhavasal, Thanjavur and seized the brandy bottles. They arrested two persons – Ansari and Rafiq – in this connection.
According to police, the siblings had hoarded the liquor bottles in the house in a bid to adulterate it with the TASMAC liquor and sell the same to those coming to the TASMAC outlet at Balaji Nagar.
