Despite the weather, about 60 percent of the candidates attended the Group I examinations in Coimbatore on Sunday.

10,358 candidates from Coimbatore were selected by the Tamil Nadu Selection Commission for the direct written test for the 74 vacancies in various departments including revenue, uniform staff, and income tax. The tests were conducted in 36 centres in the city, including 25 educational institutions.

In addition to the invigilators, a special flying squad was formed to curb mall practices. District Collector Archana Patnaik also inspected some of the centres.
