Following allegations of sale of non-Aavin products at Aavin milk booths, Damodaran, the chief of Aavin Coimbatore and Tirupur on Friday inspected the Aavin booths in the city.

According to an RTI information, only 74 Aavin milk parlours have official permits. Out of the 74 parlours, 63 are already functioning, and nine will soon be inaugurated. No licenses were issued for Aavin tea outlets. Further, only Aavin products like milk peda and ghee are permitted to be sold at the Aavin outlets. It was found that more than 200 tea shops in Coimbatore bear the Aavin signboards, and even the authorised Aavin parlours are selling non-Aavin products.

A private news channel ran a feature on this issue recently. Following this, Damodaran, the chief of Aavin Coimbatore and Tiruppur, General Manager Sumathi, and the assistant manager of Aavin inspected the parlours in the city.

Damodaran has assured that regular inspections will be carried out and action will be taken against those indulging in unauthorised sale of tea and other snacks at the parlours. He also invited Aavin-related suggestions and complaints from consumers.
