Pilots (ambulance drivers) and ambulance attendants staged a dharna in front of the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here.

According to sources, the staff members were irked at the delay in the starting of the special training session organised by CMCH. More than 100 of them from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgiris and Erode had arrived at the hospital campus to attend the two-day session.

“The session was supposed to begin in the morning. But till noon we were made to wait. They had not even arranged for basic facilities for us. Men were able to manage. But the women staff found it very difficult. So we decided to stage a dharna,” said a pilot.

CMCH authorities immediately rushed to the agitating staff and arranged the training session at Thomas Club Hall near Coimbatore railway station.
