Book on minimally invasive cancer surgery released

Laparoscopy surgeon and Gem Hospital Chairman Dr Palanivelu has come out with a book focusing on step-by-step approaches to gastrointestinal (GI) cancer surgeries.

The book `Minimally Invasive GI Surgery Manual’ will be a useful guide for budding surgeons and also for senior laparoscopy surgeons doing quality cancer surgery.

The 320-page book, having 25 chapters covering eight sessions, was released by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu yesterday at Delhi, Palanivelu told mediapersons here.

His techniques on minimally invasive treatment for GI cancers are well recognised the world over and he has authored eight books on laparoscopic surgery, which have been translated into Chinese, Korean and Spanish,Hospital bariatric surgery department head Dr Praveen Raj also edited a book `Bariatric Surgery Practice Guide’, aimed at having a standardized patient care for bariatric surgeons,Palanivelu said.
