A brain dead Sri Lankan refugee gave a new lease of life to four people here yesterday.

Sixty-one-year-old Sathyaseelan, who was staying in a refugee camp near Mettupalayam in the district, met with an accident when he was going in a two-wheeler a couple of days ago and was admitted in a private hospital., where he was declared brain dead on Thursday morning, a release from the Gem Hospital said.

As his relatives decided to donate his organs, his liver was harvested and brought to Gem Hospital, skin to Ganga Hospital, and eyes to Aravind Hospital, it said.

Sathyaseelan had come to India in 1990 from Pechalai village at Mannar in Sri Lanka. From the Mandapam camp he was shifted to the Chikkadasampalayam refugee camp in Vedar Colony, some 50 km from here.
