Hardly a month in office, R.Suganya has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the Coimbatore Smart Cities Ltd on Monday.

It was early August that she was appointed as CEO. But since then, 28-year-old Suganya has been facing wrath of political parties alleging that she did not have the experience to handle a Rs1,500-crore project.

Several political parties, including DMK, AAP, PMK and BJP had asked the government to nullify her appointment. There was also the charge that she had AIADMK links and hence succeeded in getting the post.

In her letter Suganya said: “I have been appointed with all eligible criteria,” adding that owing to controversies, she was resigning.
