Couple die in van-moped collision

An elderly couple died on the spot, when a tempo van dashed against their moped near Periyanaickenpalayam on the outskirts today.
Dasappan (65) and his wife Mani (60), residents of Samichettipalym, were nearing Veerapandi curve, when the van, coming from opposite direction dashed against them, police said.
Under the impact of the collision, both were thrown out of the vehicle, resulting in their instant death.
The bodies were sent to the government hospital here for post mortem. Search was on for the van driver, who escaped after the mishap.
