Nine companies and organisations were selected for the First CSR Excellence Awards instituted by Karunya University, as part of the its 30th year celebrations.

University Chancellor Dr Paul Dhinakaran gave away the awards at a function here this evening.

The organisations that received the awards were Robert Bosch for the manufacturing sector – large enterprise; CRI Pumps in the manufacturing sector – medium enterprise; Salzer Electronics Ltd in the manufacturing sector -promising enterprise; Kovai Medical Center and Hospital for service sector- large enterprise; Apollo Hospitals for service sector- medium enterprise; Gobi Arts and Science College for education industry- special category, Vitae International for IT industry- medium enterprise; EC Group Datasoft, IT industry- small enterprise and Jasmin Infotech , IT industry – promising enterprise.

The head of the jury panel, Additional Commissioner (Central Excise) Minu Pramod, explained the criteria for selecting the companies for awards, which includes the amount spend on CSR, the response from society, follow up activity and plans for 2017.
