Following a string of complaints from locals about an illegal night pub at a hotel near Peelamedu, the Coimbatore city police arrested three persons for conducting a night party at hotel Vijay Elanza.

According to police, they had received tips and complaints about the pub, where men and women were dancing under the influence of alcohol all night. A team of officials, led by S. Laxmi, Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order), inspected the pub.

The raiding team arrested three persons in connection with the case, and sent others away after warning them of the consequences. The arrested persons were later released on bail.

A higher official from the Police Department said that the hotel possessed license only to run restaurants and bar, and not to conduct night pubs.
