The dogs – four from Ariyalur and two from Perambalur – were trained for tracking murders and thefts and for tracking explosives.

Out of the four from Ariyalur, Malar and Dikchi (both German Shepherd) were trained for tracking murders and thefts, while Rose and Cheena (both Labrador) were trained for detecting explosives.

The other two from Perambalur – Veera (Doberman) and Ninga (Labrador) – were trained for tracking murders and thefts.

“These dogs underwent training for six months in the training centre here. Now they will be handed over to the respective units,” said A. Soundarajan, Special Sub-Inspector attached to the centre.
