After being cheated by the owner of an IT company of over Rs 40 lakh, employees of the company today petitioned the Commissioner of Police A Amalraj here.

According to the employees, apart from not being paid salaries for more than two months, the owner of the company also allegedly collected money from them for investment. The owner then closed the company in August claiming there was no income.

P Prem, one of the petitioners and former employees said that Navin, the owner of Acselor, a Coimbatore-based IT company near Eachanari, had asked the employees to invest in the company to stabilise its finances.

“I invested Rs 10 lakh on May 23. He promised that he would return the sum soon and also pay interest. Others have invested up to a total of Rs 40 lakh,” he said.

However, Navin refused to pay back the interest or to return the invested money. The company was shut down in August citing losses “He has not even provided us with salary for the last three months and when we asked his family, they said that they would not give any money and would in fact take legal action against us,” said Prem.
The members requested the COP to take action immediately and help reimburse the money.
