Fire at Chennai Silks showroom in Capital

Chennai : A major fire broke out in the multi-storied Chennai Silks textile showroom in the busy T-Nagar area in the city this morning. No casualties were reported.

The fire was noticed around 5 am and fire tenders were pressed into service and they are yet to put out the fire. The around 15 employees staying on the third floor were rescued immediately, police said.

The fire that started on the ground floor soon spread to the seventh in quick time.

The area has been cordoned off and police said a good part of the building has been affected.
