Nithyanandhini Manoharan hasn’t let motherhood get the better of her body and she feels that no woman should use that as an excuse to not get fit.

The owner of 45 Degree Fitness and mother to an 18-month-old now wants to introduce a new and fun fitness regime to Coimbatore through her centre. Nithyanandini is India’s second certified instructor of pop pilates, the body makeover trend that is a rage abroad.

“Pop pilates is an incredible fusion of ab-chiselling and total body defining moves choreographed to your favourite Top 40 hits. This intense, mat-based workout challenges you to rhythmically flow from one exercise to the next, developing a rock solid core while exercising every muscle,” she says.

Nithyanandhini feels that pop pilates add a fun element to working out and also motivates people as it done in a group, rather than as a solitary session in a gym. But she points out that while exercise contributes 20 per cent to fitness, the remaining 70 per cent is down to the diet, which she will advice on to those who enrol in her class.

Are these exercises safe for all? It’s an intense, mat-based Pilates that challenges the participants to rhythmically flow from one exercise to the next. The moves are also designed to suit an individual’s need and it can be modified to suit a newcomer, older adults, pregnant women.

“Pop pilates is a craze abroad and Mumbai is warming up to its benefits. My demo class received an enthusiastic response and I am excited to see more people sign up,” says Nithyanandhini.
