Global majors for IIT-M internships

Chennai: Leading global companies have visited the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) at Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) to offer summer internship 2017.

The list of companies includes Avalon Consulting, Yes Bank, CRISIL, Siemens, Titan, Ford, IBM, Wipro, Dell, Tiger Analytics, Amazon and Apollo Hospitals, representing industrial domains such as business consulting, banking, financial services, manufacturing, IT, analytics, e-commerce and healthcare. The median and maximum stipend offered this year grew by over 50 per cent more than the corresponding figures of the previous year.

The summer internship programme of eight weeks starts from mid-May till mid-July 2017 and is undertaken by students as part of the MBA curriculum. The highest stipend stood at Rs 1.2 lakh for the period, a release said.

Academic programmes in DoMS include MBA, MS and PhD in Management.

The MBA at IIT Madras is a two-year full time, residential programme designed to offer unique IIT advantage to students of business administration. The department has about 25 full time faculty members from different areas spanning finance, integrative management, HR, Information Systems, marketing and operations management.
