Gold, cash stolen from conductor’s bag

Five sovereigns of gold and Rs 23,000 in cash were stolen from the handbag of a bus conductor near Kinathukadavu here on Friday.

According to police, Shankar, 38, a TNSTC bus conductor on the Kinathukadavu route, had placed his hand bag on a hook near the window in his office just before starting for home after duty. On reaching his house near Millkovilpalayam, he found the gold and cash missing. His loss is estimated to be around Rs 73,000.
