Harrisons, Parry Agro and Vigneshwar share top honours at Golden Leaf India Awards

Coimbatore : Harrisons Malayalam of RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, Parry Agro Industries Ltd and Vigneshwar Estate Tea Factory shared five awards each in the 14th edition of Golden Leaf India Awards.

While Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company and United Nilgiri Tea Estates shared four awards each, Waterfall Estate, Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation, Devon Plantations and Industries, Joonktollee Tea and Industries, Darmona Tea Industry and Kodanad Estate shared three awards each and Tea Estates India received two awards, The Golden Leaf India Award: Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA: STC) convener Arun Kumar said in a statement.

The final tasting session of the TGLIA: STC was held in Dubai coinciding with the 7th Global Dubai Tea Forum on April 25 and awards were presented on the concluding day yesterday, he said.

The 58 shortlisted teas that qualified the first and second level of screening were evaluated by a panel of international jury comprising renowned tasters and major buyers -Abdurahman of Sun Group FZE, Dubai, Kurush Bharucha of Unilever, Nick Revett of Twinings, UK, Richard Smyth of Tea Trading International, Dubai and M Yahya Beyad of Britannia Tea Co Ltd, UK.
