For the ninth consecutive year, Coimbatore-based Jagannath Textiles is organising the Maha Rudra Abhishekam on August 9 at Rajasthani Sangh, D.B. Road, R.S Puram, between 12 noon and 8.30 PM. It’s a unique event wherein the devotees can perform the abhishekam all by themselves. All the abhishekam-related materials, like milk, sandalwood paste, sacred ash and ghee, will be offered by the organizers..

According to Ramesh Kumar Tibrewal, Managing Director of Jagannath Textile Company Ltd., the Maha Rudraabhishekam will be performed by priests from 06.30 PM, and Maha Deeparathana at 08.30 PM, followed by the distribution of Maha Prasadham. The Maha Rudraabhishekam will be performed with the holy water from rivers all over India, 1008 litres of milk, 1008 lotuses, 306 litres of curd, 108 tender coconuts, 108 litres of Panchamirtham, 108 litres of rose water, 108 litres of Thirumanjanam, 108 litres of sandalwood paste, 108 litres of fruit juices, 108 litres of sugarcane juice, 108 kg of viboothi, 108 kg of jaggery, 18 kg of rice flour, and 18 litres of ghee. Vedic scholars will chant one lakh Rudra Japam throughout the ceremony.

Priests from temples all over the city have been invited for the event. Last year, around 18,000 people attended the event and performed abhishekam to Lord Shiva. It may be noted that Jagannath Textiles promoters firmly believe in “Service is the highest spiritual discipline,” and follow it dedicatedly. The company is actively involved in a number of social welfare initiatives like ‘Thaneer Pandal’ and ‘Mobile Water Huts’ during summer, and celebrating/observing international & national days.

As a part of its social welfare initiatives, each year, Jagannath Textiles organizes Maha Rudra Abhishekam in the holy month of Shravana. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva during the holy month of ‘Shravan’ is very important. Shravana is the fifth month in the Hindu calendar. It comes with innumerable religious festivals and ceremonies. Every day of this month is considered to be auspicious.
