“The one who walks on a path is human, one who leaves his foot prints on the path is super human,” Dr. K.G. Bakthavathsalam, Chairman, KG Hospitals, quoted the former People’s President while speaking at the curtain raiser of the Kalam awards, which is to held in Chennai on January 26 every year, starting 2016.

Kalam awards is an initiative by J. Jeevitha Rajendran of Fusion Media and Entertainments to recognize and encourage the innovations and achievements of young talents in any given field. A curtain raiser of the awards ceremony was conducted here today at the Fun Republic Mall. The event was launched in Chennai by Governor of Tamil Nadu K. Rosaiah.

The guests of the Coimbatore launch were G. Vijay Kumar, Business Associate, Jewel One; Shamsudeen, Marketing Head, Udhayam Dhal, and an advisory committee member of Kalam awards; Ashok, film personality (actor); and Vanaja Sole, Airport Manager, Coimbatore International Airport. Leo Peter, music director, gave musical performances. Gobi Nair of Vijay TV fame, popularly known as The Voice of Vijay TV hosted the event.

“Talent from all over Tamil Nadu, irrespective of age and field, can apply for the award through www.kalamawards.com/www.kalamviruthugal.com. An 8-member jury will decide the winners,” said J. Jeevitha Rajendran. She also added that all the nominees would be listed in the Kalam Book of Records, which will be published every year.
