The annual cake mixing ceremony was recently celebrated at Hotel Le Meridien, Coimbatore. The ladies from FICCI Ladies Social Forum of Coimbatore and some of the guests of the hotel were special invitees for the occasion.

Santhosh , Room Division Manager; Madhu , F& B Manager; and Executive Chef Mohamed Sameem initiated the cake mixing ceremony.

Guests donned their aprons and chef hats, and massive steel trolley with candied ginger strips lining the bottom, and trays filled with dry fruits, raisins, black currants, candied peel, and candied cherries entered the room. The ingredients, weighing 110 kilos, were mixed with the spirit of the season in 25 bottles.

To set the ceremony off, hand gloves, aprons, and chef hats were provided to all. Handfuls of fruits were ceremoniously dumped into the table and the men began mixing them. Once all the fruits were thoroughly mixed, the bottles of wine were emptied into the mixture, one by one.

A press release from the hotel said that the fruit will be stored in a secured place to let the fruits soak in all liquid and mature beautifully in time for Christmas. These fruits will then be used by the hotel’s bakery to make plum cakes, puddings, etc. That’s the traditional way to prepare for Christmas.
