Lulu Extends Support to Local Farmers in Tamil Nadu; Retail Group Launches 160 Acres of Agricultural Projects – Cultivation Begins on 50 Acres

Lulu Group has launched an ambitious global agricultural production initiative in Pollachi, reinforcing its commitment to supporting local farmers and sustainable farming practices.

The project was inaugurated with the goal of promoting sustainable farming, while also empowering local farmers by providing them with the necessary resources and expertise to enhance their agricultural practices. Through its Fair Exports division, Lulu takes extra care in procurement, production, packing, and ensuring that products reach consumers across the globe through its hypermarkets.

The seed planting activity for the global agricultural production initiative was carried out on 160 acres of land at Ganapathi Palayam, managed by Lulu Group. As part of the initial phase, cultivation has begun on 50 acres. Lulu’s objective is to directly support local farmers while ensuring that high-quality vegetables and fruits are produced in line with global standards.

The products, including bananas, coconuts, drumsticks, onions, and snake gourds, are cultivated to meet the highest global quality standards and sourced for export across Lulu stores globally. Through these initiatives, Lulu aims to provide farm-fresh products to customers worldwide. The Group is committed to organic farming methods, utilizing natural fertilizers to maintain soil fertility.

Salim M.A., Director of Global Operations at Lulu, planted saplings to mark the beginning of the project. Additionally, as part of Lulu Fish Farming, 5,000 fish fingerlings were introduced into the water, promoting integrated and sustainable farming practices. “This is a new chapter in supporting the agricultural sector . Through this initiative, Lulu aims to support farmers and the local economy,” said Salim M.A.

During the event, Salim M.A handed over seeds and saplings to students of St. Mary’s School, Ganapathi Palayam, to highlight the importance of agriculture. Senior agricultural consultants Shankaran, Karthikeyan, Sulfikar Kadavath, Director of Fruits and Vegetables of Lulu Group, Najimudeen, CEO of Fair Exports, Rajith Radhakrishnan, COO of Lulu Group India, Swaraj N.B., Media Head of Lulu Group India, and Santosh Matthew, Fruits and Vegetables Buying Manager of Lulu Dubai, were also in attendance.
