Kochi: A navy man died due to firing from his rifle in the southern naval command here on Sunday.

Sources said Rakshit Kumar Parmar, a native of Gujarat, was killed after the trigger from his rifle went off. The incident occurred when he was on duty on board INS Jamuna.

While there are speculations that he had committed suicide, the cops in the Harbour police station have prepared an inquest, while the Navy has formed a special investigation team to probe his death.
