Newly married woman kills self

A newly married woman killed herself by consuming cow dung powder on Sunday.
According to sources, Chitra (21) of Thoothukudi, got married to Parthiban (26) of KK Nagar near Mettupalayam on September 13.
Chitra, who was living with her husband and in-laws, consumed the dung powder and fell unconscious. She was rushed to the Mettupalayam Government Hospitals, where she died without responding to the treatment.
Based on a complaint from Chitra’s family, Thudiyalur police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC (unnatural death).
Police said Chitra, who was suffering from severe stomach pain even before her wedding, was hospitalised for three days last week for the same reason. “Unable to bear the pain, she killed herself,” sources said.
