Despite roping in temporary drivers to run the Government buses, there was no respite for the commuters, as the indefinite strike by TNSTC employees entered the fourth day today.

Though there were lesser number of commuters being a holiday today, there were no adequate Government buses to transport the passengers to their destinations, since buses were run to some particular routes, passengers complained.

The private buses were charging higher fares, putting burden on the purses of workers, particularly daily wage earners, they said.

Similar situation prevailed in nearby Tirupur and Nilgiris districts and the commuters wanted the Government to put an end to the strike and save the public from the hardship that they faced for the last four days.
