Members of Bharath Sena Party have petitioned District Collector Archana Patnaik requesting to ban New Year parties in star hotels in the city here on Monday.

E. Vasu, the Propaganda Secretary of the Party said that January 1 was celebrated as New Year in Western countries and stated that the celebrations should not be encouraged in India. “It is disaster to the culture as the celebration styles are entirely against the culture,” he said.

Requesting the District Administration to issue an order against such celebrations in the district, Vasu also stated that such parties influence and affect the lives of youth.

He has also sought the arrest of persons who caused public nuisance under the influence of alcohol.
