A petty shop owner from Kanuvai has petitioned District Collector T.N. Hariharan seeking action against a temple priest.

In her petition today, C. Rajeshwari, who runs a shop in front of her house, said the priest, Mani, of the Karupparayan temple in the area has been trying to take over house forcibly. “He is openly threatening me to vacate the house and move elsewhere,” she said and added that some unidentified persons threatened to destroy her family if she failed to vacate.

“They say that God will kill my husband as I am in God’s house. They are even hurling lemons at my children,” she said.

“My husband works in construction site and we rely on the income that comes from the shop to run the family.

The administration should intervene and take necessary action,” Rajeshwari added.
