Policeman’s wife relieved of chain

An unidentified person entered a head constable’s house in the early hours today near Papanasam and snatched his wife’s chain, weighing two-and-a-half sovereigns, before escaping.
Jothi, residing at east street in Vellakkudi village near Papanasam, is attached to the dog squad in Thanjavur.
Last night, he along with his wife Rajeswari and two sons was sleeping when the miscreant gained entry into the house through the window and snatched Rajeswari’s chain.
On being informed, DSP Selvaraj inspected the scene of crime. Based on a complaint lodged by Rajeswari, Papanasam police have registered a case.
