Rare cardiac surgery sans blood transfusion done in Coimbatore

Coimbatore : A city hospital claimed to have successfully performed a cardiac surgery on an elderly woman without blood transfusion.
The 53-year old woman was admitted to Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital here for cardiac ailment and needed coronary artery bypass surgery..
The community to which the woman belonged was against blood transfusion and also blood being circulated through machine, a hospital statement said. The woman was well prepared and surgery was successfully completed. She was discharged on the fourth day and the total loss of blood was 200 ml.
