A six-member gang, in the guise of policemen, waylaid and robbed a businessman from Kerala of Rs.50 lakhs, near Tirupur district. The victim however suspects that an acquaintance of his had a hand in the crime.

Shynesh, a realtor hailing from Kannur in Kerala, along with his four friends, was heading to Tiruchirapalli to buy construction materials. But, another friend of his, named Rajesh, said that the materials were in Coimbatore and advised them to go there instead. He had also sent two of his accomplices in another vehicle, with Shynesh.

When the cars neared Vellakoil early in the morning, six persons, some dressed as policemen, stopped them in the pretext of conducting vehicle searches. During the ‘search,’ they ‘seized’ the money and asked Shynesh and his friends to follow them to the police station to collect the cash after submitting documents.

Shynesh realized that he was robbed only after reaching the police station. He immediately filed a complaint against Rajesh, the two accomplices and the six men.
