Sasikala applies for parole to visit ailing husband

Now it is official – from the horse’s mouth, well almost.

TTV Dinakaran told media persons outside his residence in Adyar on Monday that his aunt, VK Sasikala, has sought 15-day parole to spend time with her ailing husband, who is awaiting multi-organ transplant at a city hospital.

But it is not yet known whether her application would be allowed by the Parapparana Agrahara Jail in Bengluru where she is lodged to serve out her four year sentence in a disproportionate assets case.

There are allegations and insinuations that somehow Sasikala and her family were responsible for deterioration of Amma’s health and hospitalisation and ministers have come on record to declare that none of them had seen Jayalalithaa inside hospital. One minister sought forgiveness from the people for lying to the people that Amma was recovering and had eaten idli for breakfast and the like.

But this was contradicted by another minister saying that all had seen Jayalalithaa in hospital, forcing the chief minister to step in to check contradictory statements by ministers at a time when a judicial probe was constituted into the circumstances leading to Amma’s hospitalisation and eventual death.

Dinakaran claimed that Sasikala had shot a private video of Amma in hospital and told media persons on Monday that he would submit the same to probe commission if it was required. “But with a request that it not be made public,” he said.

Meanwhile, Salem police and his supporters were booked for distributing pamphlets criticising state and central governments. It is said that the pamphlets also carried the frozen two leaves symbol.

“We will not be deterred by such pressure tactics,” Dinakaran camp spokesperson CR Saraswathi said adding, how can they book Dinakaran who was not even in Salem?

Senior MLA P Vetrivel said “we are not scared of such false cases. Let them file more cases, we will approach the courts for justice.”

The truth is that this government will go as it has lost majority, and therefore it is taking all kinds of wrong steps, Vetrivel said. Dinakaran elaborated on this theme and said the government is living its last few days.

“EPS is misusing police under him and filing false charges against me,” Dinakaran said and dared the CM to quit the post and get elected by the people.
