Even as the overall results saw a dip from the previous year, the Tirupur Higher Secondary School for the Deaf, in Kothapalayam, has secured 100 per cent pass in the recently announced Higher Secondary results.

16 students including 3 boys and 13 girls appeared for the exams and all have cleared the exams with very good scores.

According to sources, the school was founded by an NGO in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu in October 1997, to improve life of poor Deaf & Dumb children through education, vocational programmes, and services.

“It has 350 children, and provides education from pre-KG to Class XII, with the help of specially-trained teachers,” said a member of the school faculty.

Since most of the students come from economically poor families from all over Tamil Nadu, study material, food, clothing, and accommodation are provided free of cost by the management.

“We tried last year to acquire centum results, but could not make it. This time we have succeeded and full credits goes to the students and the dedicated staff,” the teacher said.
