Smuggled sand seized

A lorry smuggling 15 units of sand to Kerala was seized on the outskirts and the crew members taken into custody for interrogation today.
The officials of Food and Civil Supplies, along with police, were carrying out vehicle checks on the Coimbatore-Palakkad highway and stopped the lorry. On conducting a search, the officials found sand in the vehicle, which was being taken to Kerala without valid documents, police said.
The driver Jajeen and cleaner Nishad were taken into custody and are being interrogated to ascertain the sources of supply, as the lorry was coming from Karur.
