The anti-ganja team formed by the Coimbatore City Police has been making headway in cracking down on peddlers dealing with ganja (cannabis). The team was set up to reign in the supply and sales of ganja (cannabis) in the city.

This follows a decision by Commissioner of Police A.K. Viswanathan, in response to the numerous complaints he had been receiving on the supply and smuggling of ganja, especially among college students in the city. It may be noted that The Covai Post had reported on this on November 2.

The team has made considerable progress in tracking the networks of peddlers. It may also be noted that college students too form a vital part of this network. Along with the arrest of professional peddlers, the police are also on the lookout for student peddlers.

The team has extended its net even outside Coimbatore to include the nearby districts.
