Kottayam: The killer game ‘blue whale’ is believed to have claimed its first victim through a teenager in Kerala.

Manoj (16) is said to have been a game addict and could have committed suicide by hanging in the house on July 26 at Thiruvananthapuram due to its influence, police said.

The Plus One student had downloaded the game about nine months before he died, a complaint made by his parents to the police said. They said they had tried their best to dissuade the boy from playing the game.

Manoj had gone to the beach alone which he never used to do. He did not know swimming but still he jumped into the river. He used to go to cemetery at odd hours and on one occasion told his mother not to grieve if he died early. He had indicated to donate his organs. He used to stay awake till early morning playing the game. He had created bloody marks on his body using a pair of compasses.

His mobile phone has been handed over to the cyber cell.
