Three-day event to kindle patriotism under way in Coimbatore

The Alayam Welfare Trust in association with Coimbatore Municipal Corporation and Coimbatore Next has kicked off a three-day event to celebrate 70 years of independence.
The event, being held at the Race Course Road, was inaugurated by Corporation Commissioner Dr K Vijayakarthikeyan. A flash mob by children is to be held this evening.
There is also a `smart city idea listening booth’ where people contribute their ideas for the Coimbatore Smart City project. An Independence Day torch run is also part of the event. Natural vermicompost manufactured from the municipal waste will be distributed among participants.
