Two sisters drown in pond and die in Mettupalayam

Coimbatore: Two sisters, aged 12 and Nine, today drowned and died in a pond near Mettupalayam, some 35 kms from here.
The girls, Mahalakshmi and Vaishnavi, daughter of Shivakumar, a cook by profession, had gone to take bath in the Bellathikulam in Karamadai, this morning.
Both caught in the slush and could not come out and drowned and died in the water, police said.
Bodies were retrieved with the help of fire and rescue personnel and was sent for postmortem to the Mettupalayam government hospital, they said.
