Union minister assures to address Tirupur knitwear sector problem

Coimbatore : Union MSME Minister, Giriraj Singh has assured to help address various issues being faced by Knitwear sector in Tirupur in Tamil Nadu.

The assurance was given during a meeting Tirupur Exporters Association President, Raja M Shanmugha had with Singhat New Delhi today.

The discussion was mainly on the plight of knitwear sector in Tirupur, during which, he requested help for restoration of Duty Drawback and Rebate on State Levies rates, Raja Shanmugham said in a statement.

The industry also sought enhancement of Interest Equalization incentive from three per cent to five per cent including GST related issues, he said.

National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Chairman, Ravindranath was also at the meeting, who mentioned about the NSIC support for imparting skill training to the workers, Shanmugham said.
