Wife attempts to set ablaze husband, surrenders

A 28-year old woman, who attempted to burn her husband to death in the wee hours of today, surrendered before the police.

According to police, Sumathi, a resident of Devinagar in the city, had doused her husband, who was asleep, with petrol and kerosene around 3 a.m. and set afire. However, her husband, Ramachandran managed to escape with burns and with the help of neighbours got admitted to the Government Hospital, where he is being treated.

Meanwhile, Sumathi surrendered before the All Women Police Station, who arrested her and remanded her after producing her in court. Unhappy marriage was said to be the reason.
