About 12 teams are expected to participate in the Women’s Premier League of cricket here on September 11.

An initiative of Pallavi Kotecha and R. Shah, the event has been organised to promote the spirit of the sport among women.

The five-over matches would have many new concepts. “When a player hits the ball at the ‘Hit Me’ board, she will get eight runs. Each over will have five balls,” Pallavi told media persons here today.

Anybody above the age of 12 can register their names and there would be no maximum age limit. However, the organisers insist participants register as a team.

All the matches, to be played at the basket ball ground of Decathlon on Avinashi Road, would be held between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.The last date for registration is September 5. There would be registration charge.

The winning team would be given cash prize and gifts and runners-up would also receive a cash award and air tickets to Chennai.
