The year 1954. It was a time when home made snacks and delicacies were much sought after and outside food stuff shunned. Shri Balaaji Bakery made a revolution in the city.

Set up by S. Balakrishna Lal in the Town Hall area of Coimbatore, this bakery has been catering to the needs of people since then. It has been a huge hit from day one.

Talking to Kovai Post, S. Humesh of the bakery management says that they are very strict when it comes to the quality and hygiene as most of his customers are children. “When we maintain this, we don’t requires any adjectives to describe our products,” he smiles.

Cream cones, vegetable puffs, coconut rolls, coconut balls, tea cakes, Japanese cakes, variety of rusks and cookies, pastries and cakes fly from the counters in no time. The ever-obliging staff, mostly women, are always on their toes attending to the customers.

Located in the one of the oldest locations of the city, the bakery is now part and parcel of the people here.

During the just concluded Coimbatore Vizha, many participants and entrepreneurs made it a point to relish the bakery products and carry it home too!
