Actor Kathir, who shot to the limelight with his role in Pariyerum Perumal, was keen on releasing his film Sigai at the theatres but after a long delay it has been released on Zee 5. The pressure on the filmmakers in having their film releasing at the theatres have been mounting off late due to various reasons following which alternate platforms are being looked into to get their projects to the audiences.

Earlier, noted filmmaker Priyadarshan and veteran actor Prakash Raj premiered their film Sila Samayangalil on Netflix garnering a good response. This mode of release in the digital space is now being preferred by filmmakers considering the big patronage it is receiving from the film buffs.

Kathir’s Sigai, which released on Zee 5, has been in the cans for a long time and finally it has released. The film has Kathir playing a transwoman and his performance in laudable. His body language, dialogue delivery and acting are top notch. The film, which is a crime thriller, is directed by Jagadeesan Subbu. The story delves on prostitution and the plight of transwomen. Besides Kathir, the star cast also includes Raj Bharath, Meera Nair, Riythivika, and Mayilsamy in prominent roles.

The technical crew of Sigai includes Ron Ethan Yohann for music, Navin Kumar for cinematography and Anu Charan for editing. The film has been bankrolled by NPKS Logu under the banner Divine Studios.

Sigai is a film with a social message with a run time of 102 minute. It is set in Anna Nagar in Chennai and the events that unfold in a single day are made into a film. The film was premiered at the All Lights India International Film Festival but the filmmakers failed to get a theatrical release for it.

Meanwhile, Kathir has landed a pivotal role in Vijay’s next outing with Atlee, currently dubbed as Thalapathy 63. There are rumours that he plays Vijay’s brother in the film but we have to take this report with a pinch of salt as nothing has been made official yet about the actors and their roles.
