Kochi: Three of the Padma awardees from Kerala were out of the official list which had actors Mamootty and Mohanlal as nominees, besides renowned writer MT Vasudevan Nair.

The only one considered from the State Government nominations was the 101-year-old Christian priest Philipose Mar Chrysostum.

The nation’s second prestigious award of Padmavibhushan after Bharath Ratna went to RSS ideologue P Parameswaran, a writer, thinker and orator.

Padmasree awards went to Dr MR Rajagopal and tribal healer Laksmikuttyamma who were also not in the official list.

The Kerala Government list suggested Padmavibhooshan to writer, filmmaker and  journalist MT Vasudevan Nair.

A special committee headed by Minister AK Balan prepared the State list having 42 names.
