Man escapes from lion in Thiruvananthapuram zoo

Kochi: A 45-year-old person was miraculously rescued after a close encounter with a lion in its enclosure into which he had jumped at Thiruvananthapuram zoo today.

Murugan of Ottappalam in Palakkad was rescued by the zoo staff who were alerted by a guard about the incident, police said.

He jumped from the rear side of the enclosure to escape public attention.The zoo staff simultaneously guided the lion into another enclosure so as to prevent it from attacking the intruder.

Murugan was taken straight to the Government Hospital.Police suspect Murugan was intoxicated. Murugan remained unperturbed and was seen waving at the people. He had been reported missing from home since February 18.
