Over 750 corruption charges registered on govt officials in Kerala ; Palakkad tops

Kottayam: A total number of 764 cases were registered against government officials by the vigilance department for engaging in corrupt practices since LDF government came to power.

Palakkad topped with 111 cases while Patthanamthitta had minimum of nine cases. State capital of Thiruvananthapuram came second with 106, Ernakulam 91,

Thrissur 83, Malappuram 64, Idukki 52, Kasargod 35, Kottayam and Kannur 33, Alappuzha 32, Waynad 16 and Kollam 18.

Under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, a preliminary probe is conducted if a complaint is received against an official. Case is registered if the vigilance gathers enough proof to substantiate the charges.
