A division bench of Justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice K K Sasidharan refusing to review its order against regularizing a four-storied building, with 32 residential units, at Gerumbakkam village in Sriperumpudur taluk, the judges said that no proper planning and permission is got to build this building.

It lamented that no lesson seems to have been learned even after the June 28 collapse of a multi-storey building in Moulivakkam that claimed 60 lives. The court has asked the civic officials their slumber and act against violators.

The matter relates to a review petition filed by M D Varadharajan, who had purchased an unauthorized layout, which is part of an unapproved multi-industrial layout. Without waiting for planning permission, the builder constructed stilt plus four floors, with 32 dwelling units but actually his application was rejected by the court.
