Rainfall across Tamil Nadu, especially southern parts were likely to have heavy rain from Wednesday.

Chennai is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky and light rain may occur in some areas till Wednesday, but southern parts may receive rainfall, according to meteorological department.

A low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal, off Sri Lanka and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean, may become well marked by Tuesday and move west-northwestwards across Sri Lanka-Comorin area by Thursday. Met officials said this system too would favour south Tamil Nadu.

During the 24 hours ended 8.30 a.m. on Monday, Coonoor in the Nilgiris district registered the highest rainfall of 4 cm.

Officials said Chennai might have a better chance of rainfall after November 12 as the sea would be rough.

Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea over in the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean and over Comorin areas between November 6 and 8.
