72 of the 100 wards in Coimbatore are prone to earthquake and of this 35 are high risk wards.
NDRF, Coimbatore District Home Guards, Fire Service Department, RAF, Forest Department, TN Special Police and Red Cross were part of the team that engaged in a mock drill meant to evacuate and rescue at the event of an earthquake. As Coimbatore comes under the seismic zone and is vulnerable to earth quake, the mock drill was organized.
