More than 70 volunteers participated in the two-day synchronised bird census in Coimbatore District starting from Thursday. Covering more than 25 lakes and its surrounding areas, the members would count both the wetland and forest birds. Officials from the Forest Department and volunteers would cover the Ukkadam and Krishnampathi lakes, Periakulam, Valankulam and Muthurkulam.
